Saints Mary and Mathias Youth Ministry has a long tradition of sending teens to the National Catholic Youth Conference, also known as NCYC. 45 teens from our parish along with their adult chaperones made the pilgrimage in 2019.
What is NCYC?
The National Catholic Youth Conference is a powerful, biennial, three-day experience of prayer, community, and empowerment for Catholic teenagers (of high school age) and their adult chaperones. More than 23,000 young people and their chaperones attended NCYC 2015 in Indianapolis.
What Happens During NCYC? The program includes keynote presentations, prayer, workshops, Mass, and opportunities to participate in reconciliation and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, as well as recreational activities, concerts, and exhibits. A key component of NCYC is the thematic park which is a blend of traditional exhibit booths with interactive areas featuring service projects, games, recreation, live musical performances, arts, and sports.
NCYC 2021 Details
Due to the pandemic and the inability to fundraise and the inequity of oppurtunity that brings to many of our parish young people, we will not be attending NCYC 2021 in person in Indianapolis. However, we will be hosting NCYC at Home offerings in the youth room and Gannon Hall. More Information on those atherings coming soon.
