Every Summer, high school teens from Saints Mary and Mathias have the oppurtunity to step outside of their comfort zone and make a long trip into the heart of the Appalachian Mountains to serve our brothers and sisters in need.
Manus is a week long mission trip that takes place in Huttonsville West Virginia through the Diocese of Wheeling Charleston. It's hard to narrow down all of the amazing things that happen on this trip but one thing is for certain, teens won't ever forget their experience at Manus Christi.
What happens at Manus Christi?
Prayer: Prayer is the basis for a relationship with Christ and for all ministry. Put simply, prayer is the foundation of love. While at Manus Christi, participants will engage in a variety of Catholic prayer styles and experience the breadth of traditions in the Church.
Sacraments: The Eucharist is the source and summit of our faith and for Manus Christi. Mass, adoration, and confession will be cornerstones for your experience.
Service: Love requires action. At the last supper Jesus gave us an example of humility and service and told us to go and do likewise. Manus Christi provides opportunities to serve Christ by serving the people around us.
Formation: What separates Manus Christi from other forms of volunteerism? Formation. Each day we spend time diving into the teachings of the Church and using dynamic adventure activities, reflections, and other means to help participants fall in love with Jesus Christ.
Fellowship: Among other things, it is essential that your time with us be FUN. Time spent with friends and building new relationships are important parts of Manus Christi. The schedule is designed to allow you to get to know people you didn't come with, as well your own group, more.
