The RCIC (Rite of Christian Initiation of Children) program helps introduce children to the Catholic Church, and helps them complete the Sacraments of Initiation. These welcoming classes are taught with children/youth in mind, so that they may learn in a manner most fitting for their age group. The RCIC is for children in approximately Grades 3-8, while high school children would go into the adult classes (RCIA). The RCIC classes are taken in conjunction with our Religious Education classes. RCIC is available weekly on Wednesday evenings from 6:30 to 7:45.
Our RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is a comprehensive formation process into the full Sacramental life of the Catholic Church. It is both educational and Spiritual, designed to develop the whole person into the Catholic Christian faith. RCIA is for the unbaptized who are seeking admittance into the Catholic Church. It is for those who are baptized in another Christian community and are seeking full communion in the Catholic Church. RCIA is for those Catholics who did not receive the Sacraments of Eucharists and/or Confirmation and desire full initiation into the Catholic Church. RCIA classes are held on Tuesday evenings from 6:30 to 8:00, September through May.
Please contact Sister Cheryl Demmer at 563-263-3848 or [email protected] if you are interested in RCIA/RCIC.
The Sacrament of Confirmation is an important initiation which all Catholics must undergo in order to become a full member of the Catholic Church, to be a godparent, and Eucharistic Minister. When the sacrament of confirmation is received, the new member is fully initiated into the Catholic Church.
If your child wishes to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation, he/she must faithfully attend Religious Education classes for a period of two years from Grade 8-10. Parent meetings would be required, as is a confirmation retreat — which is usually held in February. Also involved are classes, service projects, and confirmation interviews.
Please contact Sister Cheryl Demmer at 563-263-3848 or [email protected] if your son or daughter would like to recieve the Sacrament of Confirmation.
