Every parent wants their son or daughter to make good choices, to have a strong sense of right and wrong, to care for other people. Helping your child to have a solid relationship with Jesus Christ and His Church is the most important thing you can do to help your child grow up to be the person God created them to be. The sacraments are powerful moments in your child’s life which help them grow in their understanding of the faith and strengthen the bond they have with the Lord.
The very first sacrament your child received was Baptism. When children are baptized, the priest or deacon says to their parents:
You have asked to have your child baptized. In doing so you are accepting the responsibility of training them in the practice of the faith. It will be your duty to bring them up to keep God's commandments as Christ taught us, by loving God and our neighbor. Do you clearly understand what you are undertaking?
As a parish, our goal is to help you make good on the promise you made that day. We want to support you and give you the resources you need to be your child’s first and best teacher of the faith.
Young people ordinarily receive the sacrament of Confirmation in 9th or 10th Grade.
